Summer Health Trick

Here are three great ways from Ayurved, the Indian science of life, to reduce summer heat build up in the body. They will help you feel better and can also make you look five years younger.

According to Ayurved reducing fire is beneficial for health because or internal fires rules digestion and when this is out of balance we do not digest food or any information correctly. Fire also rules beauty because fire imbalances are reduced by the body through the skin. Too much fire creates rashes, acne, blemishes, poor skin luster, dull hair and much more.

The three fire reducing tricks below not only enhance health, but also help clear your skin and make it glow.

The first trick is to eat watermelon...lots of it at one time (and with nothing else) and fresh! Watermelon is a cleanser. Eat a whole, big one if you can. This removes summer heat buildup when the flushing action removes excessive fire, water and air. The melon must be fresh, whole and cut within 20 minutes. Watermelon is a sponge that absorbs and flushes free radicals from the system. If you let the melon sit after cutting, it oxidizes and loses its cleansing capacity. Also, it can become a free radical itself.

The rule for watermelon is "Eat it alone or leave it alone". Make the melon your entire meal and eat nothing for three to four hours before and after. Sound crazy? Not long ago a healer prescribed this simple solution for a woman who had been suffering a severe rash (a summer fire imbalance) for over a month. The rash was gone next morning after just one big melon was eaten. Rashes can suggest other problems and should not be ignored if eating watermelon does not make it go away. Fortunately many times a meal or two of melon will clear skin problems.

The second tip can be romantic as well-moon bathing and calm conversation. Sounds even crazier, but perhaps this just means you should spend more time out in the evenings when it is cooler...but the moonlight is not only beautiful it is calming. Try it and see.

Finally, be sure to eat breakfast. This is the most important meal of the day for reducing fire imbalances.
