Being committed to a healing journey will continually show that owning the "I" position is key to healing. To me, owning the "I" position means being willing to accept, own and genuinely look at my personal behavior and see how I truly operate. It also means accepting responsibility for my feelings, thoughts, actions and deeds on all dimensions.
At the same time, wanting to get the bigger story and improve health on all levels is a big assignment. So, to do this, serious tools that one, support and respect the healing process, and two, honor taking one step at a time are vital. Conscious Connected Breathing is a tool that does both - one breath at a time.
Quantum physics reveals that our emotions (energy in motion) are made up of energy particles. When emotions are not released through expression in a safe space with intent to heal, these particles become trapped as energy in the spaces between the atoms and the molecules.
When we experience stress and that stress is unrelieved, the programmed tendency is to stop breathing and breathe more shallowly. This traps the energy of the unexpressed emotions in our bodies and the tension builds, often times hidden. This unrelieved stress is now being seen as a contributing factor in a wide range of dis-eases such as hypertension, heart attacks, strokes, ulcers, migraines, irritability, inability to concentrate or sleep and sexual dysfunction.
Conscious Connected Breathing (CCB) is a specialized tool that assists in releasing the imprisoned emotions by over-oxygenating our cells and moving the trapped, suppressed energy out. On each inhale the body becomes filled with needed oxygen, and the energy or life force (in ancient Kemet, India and China this life force is known as ankh, prana and qi) in the breath begins to fill and internally bathe the body. With each exhale, toxins are released, the body is purified, energized and being in the present moment begins to bring clarity to all parts of the self.
Some Buddhists call the moment of birth, "The Great Forgetting". Conscious Connected Breathing can be called a process of "Discarding Forgetfulness", where the direct intuitive experience of Remembering is the desired outcome, and it begins to get clearer as to what the patterns of avoidance, denial and suppression are really about.
I remember my CCB trainer sharing with me that the breath reveals how live is really being lived, and that by committing to the breath, it is possible to gain a deeper awareness, acceptance and sensitivity to what the body is experiencing – Physically, Emotionally, Mentally and in the Heart. With patience, compassion for self and a desire to heal, -this translates into being more alive and conscious in day to day living, taking one step….one breath at a time.
